Gabba is always a little bit of a rock ‘n roll gallery, but every August they turn up the volume and make it literal. This year’s show is virtual, but feel free to create your own playlist as you peruse the icons, legends and inspirations from all genres from punk to rap, reggae, country, rock god and pop diva represented and interpreted in painting, sculpture and printmaking by over 60 international and local artists. Jason Ostro and Elena Jacobson describe the results as, “dazzling and diverse: imagined album covers, portraits of rock idols, paintings inspired by classic songs,” and proceeds benefit the arts education programs of Adopt the Arts. Opens Thursday, August 20 at 11am online; print releases start August 24; gabbagallery.com.
